Taste of Pizza Event Cooking in Lake County | Lake County

Thick crust or thin? Extra sauce or a light spread?

Lake County’s 2021 Taste of Pizza event features a variety of tasting options for those who enjoy the popular Italian cake.

Starting January 30th, purchase of a Taste of Pizza card entitles the holder to a large pizza with a topping from any of the eight establishments in Western Lake County.

The card is valid Monday through Thursday and is not valid for delivery.

Cardholders can vote for their favorites through a poll in the Facebook group “Taste of Pizza” until June 30th. The winners will receive a plaque with the title “Taste of Pizza”.

The cost of one card is $ 20 and can be purchased from the Farm and Flea Market at Great Lakes Mall on Saturdays from 11am to 2pm. The market is located near Planet Fitness in the former Sears Hall.

Timberlake Alderman and Lake Events Founder and CEO Sherri Falkenberg and Lake County Treasurer-Elect Michael Zuren initiated the campaign to help boost local businesses.

2021 Taste of Pizza cards are available for purchase on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Farm and Flea Market in the Great Lakes Mall in Mentor.

Western Lake County is the first of three groups of pizzerias, followed by a second category in Lake County and a third with Eastern Lake County.

Alesci’s in Willowick are participating in the Western Lake County Edition; Best pizza and sandwiches in Willoughby; D’Amicos Pizzeria, Lucio’s, and Master Pizza, all in Eastlake; and Revolution Pizza, sports fanatics and Severino’s, all in Willowick.

The second card is inserted after the facility registration is complete.

At least 10 percent of the proceeds will be donated to a local non-profit organization.

The Salvation Army in Painesville will be the first recipient, followed by the Willowick Pet Food Pantry.

Some of the companies have already given back to the community by donating to other events. Among them is Master Pizza in Eastlake.

“I think whenever Master Pizza can do something to help the community, we try to say yes,” said owner Jason Brett.

In the spirit of good competition, Mike LaMarca, owner and CEO of Master Pizza Franchise Group LLC claims that his company’s pizza could have an edge in winning the top title.

He noted that all of the ingredients used are natural and fresh and that “it’s a little different from everyone else.”

A series of videos created by Falkenberg and Zuren promote the flavor of the pizza while topping it off with some fun. In the videos, the duo are dressed up as characters from the Indiana Jones saga as they go in search of the best cake.

They invite the public to act as “extras” to play various roles. “Taste of Pizza Western Lake County Episode # 1” and future episodes can be viewed on YouTube.

“It’s a great way to get everyone involved, support the local people and make a difference in the community,” said Falkenberg.

A similar event with local ice cream parlors is planned for this summer.
