PF&R: 1 particular person injured after cooking system connected to propane tank triggered an explosion within the van Information


PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) – A person was treated for burns Tuesday morning after an explosion in a van in north Portland.

At around 8:24 a.m., Portland Fire & Rescue crews were called to the 5400 block of North Basin Avenue after reports of a burning vehicle.

According to PF&R, investigators found that a modified cooking appliance attached to a 5-gallon propane tank caused an explosion that tore apart a van parked at the scene.

One person who lived in a van, according to PF&R, suffered non-life-threatening burns.
