SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL / KMSS) – Shreveport has a new place for kids to get active.

The Linwood Public Charter School has laid the foundation stone for a new fitness field for the community.

It does this through a partnership between Healthy Blue and the David Raines Community Health Center.

It’s a place to get in and be active, to tackle child obesity and the lack of free gyms.

“Any space we could have so that children in the community know they can come and stay active, play with their friends in a safe space is welcome,” said Dr. Christy Valentine, CEO of Healthy Blue.

“It will be available to not just the children here but the community as well, and we hope to add other types of physical fitness to what we started today,” said Willie White, CEO of David Raines Community Health Center.

David Raines runs a school health clinic on the Linwood School campus. Healthy Blue donated $ 25,000 to develop the fitness area there.
