Former college football player Kevin Grenier tries to get people off the couch.
So much, he recently opened a new Anytime Fitness facility in Rifle.
“We saw a lot of people who tried to train at home and didn’t make it,” he said. “Once you’re here, you can’t let yourself slack off. It’s definitely a motivator. “
Grenier, who also runs Glenwood Springs Anytime Fitness with his wife Jessica, officially opened the doors to the new Rifle location on July 17th.
“For someone who needs to make a serious life change and lose 100 pounds, the hardest thing they could possibly do this year is walk through that door,” he said. “As long as we can get people here, we can help change their lifestyle.”
The new gym is located at 800 Airport Blvd. and offers 24-hour access that caters to all interests, Grenier said. Meanwhile, the wide range of exercise equipment is brand new, from Anytimes dumbbells to treadmills and everything in between.
“We have a training application that people can participate in, with hundreds of different training programs, ranging from novice to expert, that are constantly updated by our training department at corporate headquarters,” he said. “And then of course we have group training and personal training for the people.”
In addition to state-of-the-art equipment and physical training applications and courses, Anytime Fitness offers a familiar, neighborly atmosphere.

If someone walks through the door, the manager knows their name almost immediately, said Jessica.
“We’re as local and humble as possible,” she said. “We are the face of the business.”
Kevin said her goal with Anytime Fitness was to “create a very warm and welcoming environment for someone.”
“Our people are second to none because they are just very professional and very friendly,” he said.
But it’s not just the indoor experience that Anytime Fitness offers. Kevin said he plans to take the experience outside.
“We’re going to have boot camps in the park,” he said. “We load a trailer full of equipment and send our trainers out to teach basic things and get everyone moving and sweating.”

It’s almost fair to say that Kevin and Jessica Grenier were made to sweat, and they’re practically prepared to own and operate gyms in Garfield County. Both are former college athletes who met at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Kevin was a soccer player. Jessica was in soccer.
The two met during physiotherapy.
Eventually, Jessica took advantage of her degree in sports medicine and started working as a personal trainer in the Roaring Fork Valley. But when the opportunity arose to open an Anytime Fitness in Glenwood Springs, they pounced in 2018.
“We are locally owned and operated,” said Jessica. “The fitness equipment and everything is ours and we run it pretty much as we want it to. We hire employees on site. “
Jessica said the Rifle location has personal trainers.
“My cell phone rings 24 hours a day and I answer the phone 24 hours a day and open the door to people,” added Jessica. “This is our business: good business with customer service.”
