“Fitness gives me a feeling of peace, happiness and well-being,” says Sudeep Sahir in an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla. Find out what motivates him to be fit and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Sudeep Sahir, the talented television actor, is quite a star who is causing a sensation in the television industry with his outstanding performance in Tara Yaar Hoon Main. We got the chance to chat with the actor and reveal his secret of how to be fit and manage a hectic schedule.
Let’s find out what the actor has to say about fitness and motivation.
What does fitness mean to you?
“Fitness is a way of life for me and it makes me very happy. I love the idea of being fit and not having a stomach. It’s been a lifestyle change for me for almost 10 years. I used to never bother about anything and generally get into junk food. I would never stop at just one samosa and had to have at least 4. Now fitness has become essential for me as it gives me a sense of peace, happiness and wellbeing. “
How do you keep a healthy balance between your mind and body?
“I am a person who never thinks about it. I think whatever has to happen will eventually happen. This is how I keep my mind fit. For the body, I eat everything except in moderation and at equal intervals of 2-3 hours. “
How do you manage to stay fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle after your demanding and hectic routine?
“I carry all my food from home, including breakfast, lunch, coffee, and fruit. Before, when I had a driver, I always got off at the domestic airport and went home while returning home. That way I wouldn’t waste time and could spend more time with my family while I was also exercising. “
What is your ideal exercise program?
“I’m not an athlete. I can’t look in the mirror and work out because I find it extremely boring. I’ve always been a runner. This is my happy time and I am incredibly happy when I run. After my shooting, at least 3-4 times a week, I run after I get home. I return in my undercarriage so that once I’ve parked my car, I can go straight to a run before I go home.
I also do a lot of workouts with my son. I go for a walk with him and sometimes we even go to our terrace and work out. That way I can spend that extra hour with him too. “
Do your roles require you to maintain a healthy body?
“Sometimes they do. Before Tera Yaar Hoon Main, I played Lord Krishna on a show. This role required a flat stomach and properly proportioned body to look divine but not muscular. Therefore, I needed a different type of exercise routine that was a mix of weight lifting and running. For the role of Rajeev in Tera Yaar Hoon Main, however, I can eat whatever I want as I don’t have to be torn up for the role. I also wear an abdominal prosthesis for this character. While I can be lenient, I still make sure that I eat in the right proportions and maintain a healthy lifestyle. “
Is there a quick, healthy snack you can count on on busy days?
“I love to eat makhana. I carry a box full of dry fruits including cashews, walnuts, and almonds. I have a box of cranberries for my sweet tooth that I eat after lunch every day. I am the type of person who can have the same thing for 6 months non-stop. For example, I’ll have Besan ka Cheela for 6 months until one day I’ll be like I can’t have it and won’t have it for a year. “
A food that you just can’t resist.
“It must be mangoes. I know they are thick and cute, but I can’t resist eating them. “
What kind of music do you listen to while you exercise?
“Any kind of music made me happy back then – it could be bhangra, an English song, or anything else. If it’s a track I like, I’ll listen to it. “
What motivates you to be fit?
“Just the idea of being fit and having a flat stomach (laughs). The clothes fit well, you feel good and everything that motivates me to be fitter. “
Any fitness tips for your admirers?
“No matter what, take your time for a walk or a run, even 30-40 minutes is enough. Another important thing I did is replaced sugar in my coffee with jaggery and reduced it from 4 cups of coffee to 2 cups a day.
I love to eat candy so my goal is to resist anything sweet all week and only have it on Saturdays. This has helped me lose weight and my candy cravings have also decreased. So I check myself all week, drink candy on Saturdays and then I’m ready for another whole week of checking.”
