Apple Fitness Plus: How to set up the new exercise service to get exercise

Apple’s new training service Fitness Plus is now available to help you work up a sweat at home with the help of your Apple Watch. The training service costs $ 10 (£ 10, AU $ 15) per month or $ 80 (£ 80, AU $ 120) per year, or can be used with Apple Music, Apple TV Plus, Apple Arcade, Apple News Plus, and 2TB of iCloud storage can be combined as part of the Apple One Premier Subscription Package for USD 30 (GBP 30, AU $ 40) per month. You can share your Fitness Plus membership with up to five other people.

How to download Apple Fitness Plus

To get Apple Fitness Plus you need to be running iOS 14.3, WatchOS 7.2, iPadOS 14.3 and TVOS 14.3 – all available now. Fitness Plus requires an Apple Watch Series 3 or higher with WatchOS 7.2, paired with an iPhone 6S or higher or an iPhone SE and iOS 14.3.

On your Apple Watch, Fitness Plus will automatically appear as a new tab in the Fitness app on your iPhone. If you use an iPad, you can download the fitness app from the App Store. If you’re using an Apple TV, the Fitness app will appear automatically after upgrading to TVOS 14.3.

How to set up Apple Fitness Plus

To sign up for Apple Fitness Plus, go to Or open the Fitness app on one of your Apple devices and select the Fitness Plus tab. You can sign up for a one-month free trial or get three months free when you buy a new Apple Watch.

Once you’re signed in and open the Apple Fitness Plus app on your Apple TV or other device, you’ll see a notification on your watch asking if you’d like to connect. Tap yes. At the top of the app, filter through different types of workouts, difficulty levels, trainers, duration, and music. You will find 10 different workout types to choose from, including HIIT, strength, yoga, dance, core, cycling, treadmill, and rowing, as well as cooldowns.

Each training session tells you what equipment (if any) you need, e.g. B. Weights or a treadmill. When you choose one, you can click Get Started (or preview it first). A play button will appear on the screen and on your Apple Watch. Press one of the two buttons to start exercising. The two devices stay in sync throughout the training. You can also use your Apple Watch as a remote control to play or pause your workout.

In the upper left corner of the screen you can see the elapsed time, your current heart rate and the number of calories burned. After the end of a workout, you have the option to do another workout or a guided cooldown. After your workout, you will see a summary screen that summarizes your activities. The workout is also displayed in your fitness app.
