GoPaisa, a leading cashback and coupon website in India, conducted an analysis based on users’ transaction data to understand the changing patterns of online shoppers over the period. Due to the pandemic, there appears to have been a change in consumer behavior in many markets. The startup tracked its users’ transactions and purchases on the platform to identify their changing preferences and needs. The analysis and results were prepared based on users’ shopping habits in 2021.

● For 64% of users, deals were the main factor when shopping for gadgets

● 25% of users who buy purchased gadgets match watches

● Orders for fitness bands are up 400%

● 25% of people who buy yoga and fitness equipment

● When it comes to fitness products, fitness brands as well as athleisure and loungewear products top the list

● 38% of users who purchase fitness products are from metropolitan areas, 46% are from semi-urban areas where branded stores are not available, so online is the only option for them. People from tier 3 and beyond have now become more brand conscious, from buying athletic shoes to sportswear, they want the best, even if it sometimes means they exceed their purchasing power a little.

● Sales of health drinks and nutritional supplements are up 300%, and this newfound increase in demand is coming only from Tier 3 markets and beyond.

● The number of purchases for online e-learning courses has increased by 250%.

They have become more health conscious and are also spending more time exploring digital learning. These two categories have risen to the top 5, which for us is the bulk of the traction. We are witnessing this trend and expect it to contribute around 35 to 40 percent of total sales this Christmas season. ”In 2021, GoPaisa booked over 3 lakh transactions with more than 3.5 million users on its platform.
