If standing in front of a wall of sneakers is your lucky place, that’s good news.
National shoe and apparel retailer DTLR, formerly DTLR Villa, severed the ribbon on its newly renovated and expanded store in downtown Harrisburg on Monday.
“This is another example of a great track record here in Harrisburg,” said Brad Jones of Harristown Enterprises, the landlord of the DTLR building.
One of the largest retailers in town, according to Jones, DTLR has been operating in Harrisburg for over 15 years, starting as a sneaker mansion.
DTLR has expanded from 4,000 to 7,000 square feet, allowing the company to expand its product offering, said Dale Redmond, DTLR district manager for Central PA.
Redmond pointed out the additional tables for displaying clothes, the larger space for accessories, and the designated areas for women and children. DTLR offers brands such as Nike, Jordan, Adidas, Levis, Timberland and UGG, among others.
According to Jones, the renovations will cost around $ 700,000. The business was completely gutted and in February the DTLR temporarily moved to the former, vacant Rite Aid location down the street.
Redmond looked forward to completing the renovations before the students return to Harrisburg University for face-to-face study, explaining how they make up a large part of the business’s customer base.
“People are ready to go back downtown and shop,” said Mayor Eric Papenfuse. “This shop not only lasted, it has also grown.”
The DTLR is located at 333 Market St., Harrisburg. The opening times are Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 12 a.m. to 5 p.m.
